Web Standards
In a recent article for Web Design magazine Bruce Lawson, Web Developer for the Opera internet browser and co-leader of the Accessibility Task Force of the Web Standards Project, commented on how important adhering to Web Standards is when building and designing websites. Some web users are visually impaired, so the ability to increase font size is a necessity, meaning the scripting of a website must enable this feature. Some web users may be blind, so sites should have plain text within the body, not just pages full of images or flash, as software that deciphers web pages and reads them aloud for the user only work via plain text and alt tags (hover text for an image).
